Welcome to our 24-7 Week of Prayer 2025!

Timeline of the international 24-7 Prayer movement

1999

The First 24-7 Prayer room began in Chichester, England

Inspired by the Moravians, a bunch of young people with a passion to see God move decided to try to pray night and day for a whole month. They started praying on 5 September 1999. One month turned to two, then three, then other communities joined in.

2000

24-7 Prayer vision launched in Guildford, England, which started with a prayer event in a nightclub. 13 people gave their lives to Jesus on that night. The whole year was covered in non-stop, day and night prayer – and the prayer still hasn’t stopped.

The Vision Poem, written by Pete Greig, on the wall of the first prayer room, was emailed worldwide.

2001    Teams went to ‘pray, play and obey’ in Russia, Ibiza and India

The first 24-7 Prayer gathering happened in Chichester which became an annual event.

2002   24-7 became a registered charity. Prayer rooms expanded out of the UK and into Europe in Spain, Switzerland and Germany.

2003    Red Moon Rising by Pete Greig, wrote the story of how God turned one prayer room into three years of non-stop prayer.

2004    24-7 Prayer USA began

2005    24-7 Prayer Rooms have run in 62 nations

Inspired by the original Order of the Mustard Seed from the 18th century, a new Order with the same key rules of life began: to be true to Christ, to be kind to people, and to take the gospel to the nations.

2007    Launch of God on Mute by Pete Grieg explores what to do when we don’t feel like our prayers are answered.

2010    Prayer Spaces in Schools: began in the UK, to help children engage with prayer for themselves.
